First partitivity workshop in November 2017 in Venice

The first PARTE workshop was organized by Giuliana Giusti on 15-16 November 2017 at the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice. The invited speakers were Anne Carlier and Urtzi Etxeberria (CNRS, Bayonne).

The theme of the workshop was partitive determiners and partitive Case. Among the selected speakers there were several members of the PARTE network.

The interest of this workshop was that partitivity was discussed from various perspectives (diachronic, synchronic, acquisition), for different languages, languages types and dialects (French, Italian, Basque, Turkic, Finnish, Greek, Catalan, German, Estonian) and for different types of partitivity (partitive determiners, partitive case marking, partitive pronouns, pseudo-partitives and partitive constructions). The combined perspective yielded an overview of the emergence, spread, expression, and vulnerability of partitivity in European languages and dialects.

The program of the workshop and the abstract can be found here.

Currently Giuliana Giusti and Petra Sleeman are preparing a volume that will contain several of the papers that were presented at the workshop.
